Welcome to Mission Resurrection Church - Moore County, NC!
Resurrection Church in Hope Mills, NC is excited to announce the formation of a new Anglican Church in Moore County! In partnership with Christ Church in Winston Salem and Holy Trinity Church in Chapel Hill, Resurrection Church is sponsoring this new church plant called Mission Resurrection Church, until a permanent name is selected.
These three churches are working together using the old circuit rider team model of ministry to provide stability, support, prayer, resources and seasoned leadership until a Moore County core group is strong and mature enough to hire their own Rector (the Anglican word for Senior Pastor). Watch the 5 minute video below to learn how Rev.'s Lovejoy and Sharpe used this same circuit rider model to begin a new Anglican Church in Beckley, WV.
A Moore County core group has already begun to form. Developing and growing this core group will be our focus starting February 10, 2021 with a Wednesday night Zoom Lectio Divina Group. For more details on Anglicanism, Lectio Divina, Mission Resurrection leadership, why we are planting a church during a pandemic and how you can be joyfully involved, please continue reading at right and below.
Vision & FAQ Document
Please pray for our first monthly preview service Sunday, October 3 at 10 a.m. at Southern Pines Chapel.
A Prayer for the Local Congregation: Almighty and everlasting God, you govern all things in heaven and on earth: Mercifully hear our prayers, and grant that in Mission Resurrection Church the pure Word of God may be preached and the Sacraments rightly administered. Strengthen and confirm the faithful; protect and guide the children; visit and relieve the sick; turn and soften the wicked; arouse the careless; recover the fallen; restore the penitent; remove all hindrances to the advancement of your truth; and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
-From the 2019 Book of Common Prayer, p. 649.
How Can I Be Involved?
-Lectio Divina: Join us Wednesday evenings beginning Feb. 10, 2021 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. for a Zoom Lectio Divina Bible Study. You can read more about the ancient practice of Lectio Divina here. We will also gather periodically for outdoor in-person fellowship once the weather warms up.
-Pray: Pray with us for this new work, that God would be pleased and glorified, that our love would be genuine and sacrificial and that the gospel of Jesus Christ would bring new life to many.
-Give: The circuit rider model of church planting is nimble and low cost, since the initial leadership team are already paid by their home churches. Costs primarily include mileage reimbursement, worship supplies, eventual building rental and saving up for hiring a permanent leader. If you would like to give toward this new work, Resurrection Church is receiving and accounting for all funds given until Mission Resurrection sets up their own bank account. Click here to give and select the Missions Moore County category to enter your amount.
-Worship & Serving: Over 2021 our core group has grown and is ready to begin monthly monthly preview services at Southern Pines Chapel. Our first three monthly preview service will take place on Sundays October 3, November 7 and December 5 at 10 a.m. If you'd like to see a new Anglican church started in Moore County, please join us and enquire how you can serve with us. If you'd like to simply learn more about the Anglican church, please join us as well. Contact Rev. Elijah Lovejoy below with any questions.
